Moore Funk Camp

Camp Overview

Wrestling Experience:

The level of technique covered in this camp is best understood by wrestlers who already have a couple of seasons under their belt. The Moore Funk Camp is best suited for middle school and high school wrestlers who have at least 2 years of wrestling experience. Exceptions can be made on a case by case basis, please contact Coach Keel for more details.

Timeline:

The Moore Funk Camp is normally run over 3 two-hour periods over 2 or 3 days.

3 Session Camp:

Session 1: Head, Hands, Hips, and Tricks
Session 2: Combining Defensive Basics and Tricks
Session 3: Unorthodox Mat Wrestling

Technique:

The takedown technique taught at the Moore Funk Camp is organized into six sections and all six sections are covered regardless of the schedule.

  4. Ill-Advised Techniques and Their Counters
  5. Ground Game

  • Go Behinds

2. Foundations of Funk:

  • Principles of Funk
  • Get What He’s Got
  • Highest Man Wins
  • Heaviest Man Wins
  • Trust Your Wrestling

3. Big Three:

  • Rubber Knee
  • Sit the Corner
  • Same Side Roll

4. Ill-Advised Techniques and Their Counters:

  • Jermain Jones
  • Cutbacks
  • Flying Funk
  • Foot in the Air Throws

5. Ground Game:

  • Reeses
  • Elevators
  • Roll Through
  • Wing Rolls
  • Go Behind Roll
